Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls," is another fantastic collection of stories - some are based on his life, and a few are special "Forensics" which are very short and very delightful. Also, at the very end, if I wasn't already enough in love with it, the very last entry is a collection of poems about dogs. And the very last poem is one about a dog named Bowser. It's crude, but it could have been written about my Bowser, and if David Sedaris ever comes to Calgary again, I'm going to take up all of his time at the book signing and show him a million pictures of my Bowser.
P.S. Several years ago he came to Calgary to promote When You are Engulfed in Flames, and at the book signing he drew a wee picture of me barfing in my book. When I'm old I will show that book to my grandchildren.
P.P.S. When this book comes out in audio book I'll listen to it, so I really have read it twice. But it's that good, it really, really is.

ring dish on the left is totally adorable. It fits the rainy weather at the moment, and I love the handle loop for rings.

This month - all of the clothing and accessories that I bought were made ethically.
(Not hard to do if you only buy two things.)
Just over a week ago, on my quest to find a cute summer purse, I went to Eleven Eleven boutique in Kensington for the first time. I didn't leave with a purse, but I did leave with a new dress! Forgive the photo above - it doesn't do it justice at all. The dress is made by a company called Meemoza, made in Canada. It's a very flattering striped linen fabric, with a cinched elastic waist, pockets, and lovely neckline. It's already become my go-to summer dress. Eleven Eleven is a lovely shop. It just recently moved to a more foot-traffic-friendly location on Kensington Crescent. All of the things that they sell are made in Canada, and they're tag line "conscious clothing" is definitely something that resonates with me.
I also did end up getting an Erin Templeton purse - but I ordered it online. Eleven Eleven had the TGIF in a lovely forest green, but for unknown reasons I was set on purple. I ordered it from Erin's online shop and went for a periwinkle. It's in the mail now and I can't wait to get it!

Have you seen the Up Series? 7 Up was a documentary movie made in 1964, that filmed just over a dozen British seven year olds from a variety of backgrounds, and interviewed them about about various topics. Since then, they've interviewed those same children every seven years - and the films are a really fascinating look at child development, class, marriage and many other things. 56 Up was released last year, and will be released on DVD in Canada and the United States in the summer - I'm really looking forward to seeing it! The other seven DVDs are available in Calgary at the public library, and I hope that they acquire 56 up soon.
Foyle's War is my the newest mystery series that I'm in love with - it's fantastic. It's set in England, during the second World War, and features Police Inspector Foyle as the main character. The episodes are long, and I just started watching it after noticing that it is available on Netflix!

I bought a Thursday Island bandana from Purr Kensington on the weekend and am in love! It's navy and has traditional paisley bandana print accented with tandem bicycles. Purr has a few more but they're selling out quickly. Last month they tweeted a cute photo with one way to tie them.
Add to the list of things that I want:
One of Erin Templeton's TGIF bags. They're prefect if you want a small, casual summer purse. And they're made from recycled leather, which will make you feel good.
But what colour? Pink? Blue? Red? Deciding is hard! (I'm thinking pink!)

Right now I'm totally obsessed with The Killing - it's on Netflix, and even though I just started watching it last week I'm already almost finished the second season! It's great - a very interesting murder mystery that is set in Seattle but was filmed in Vancouver. I can't wait for season three to be added (in a year - which is AGONIZING.)
